I have been a member of LAGPA for five years, having
joined when I attended your first conference. Over these years, I have appreciated the fact
that LAGPA was growing, but now I see a wonderfully diverse and authentic association, eager
to serve the unique needs of gay, lesbian, and bisexual psychotherapists. Your new newsletter
is a fantastic way to do this, and I am glad to see that you have committed yourselves to
making this a key component in the mission of LAGPA. Keep up the great work! -J. Reuben, PhD
Of all the associations that I belong to, I
have always held a special place for LAGPA in my heart. I am glad to see that LAGPA is now on
the same par as most other professional associations, with a "real" newsletter,
continuing education, and student outreach. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Congratulations for getting on the
information superhighway! Of all the GLBT web sites out there, it will be great to have one
that truly speaks to me as a gay psychotherapist. Also, way to go on the new newsletter and
the CEU accreditation.

Who would want to form an alliance with APA
and CPA? They have historically been rather negligent of the issues facing the gay, lesbian,
and bisexual community, with maybe a token session here and there at the annual conferences. I
applaud Dr. Mochan's efforts to create such an alliance, but I fear that he will find a great
deal of red tape in getting the point across, even though there are divisions such as Div. 44
and Div. 7. In the meantime, I will rely on LAGPA to provide the authentic connection between
my being a gay man and a psychologist.

The idea for a journal is fantastic. For so
long we have had to rely on publishers such as Haworth Press to provide us with some rather
over clinical or truly unrelevant publications in the journal format. I hope that LAGPA does
go forth with it and if your newsletter and continuing education forums are any indication of
your journal's level, this will be an exciting and truly valuable publication. That is my
opinion.
