Gritty Therapy

The goal of therapy is to hold up a mirror for you to see yourself from multiple angles. Unlike real life, therapy can rewind interactions and replay scenarios,to help you see your patterns of interaction that may not be working for you. Becoming aware of your knee-jerk reactions allows you to see how you react to perceived criticism or rejection. The next step in therapy then is to learn and develop the emotional regulation skills to work through these strong reactions comfortably and productively. These skills are essential for authentic conversations and meaningful relationships.

I can hold up a mirror, and you can get a glance at how the people in your life see you when you are disappointed, angry, or avoidant.

As you describe the challenges in your life each week, I will listen carefully to what you say and how you say it.  We will talk about what you do to self-sabotage and perpetuate the challenges in your life. Many people have a difficult time expressing themselves when they are mad or hurt. They have the urge to run, say mean things or shut down.  This is because when a person get flooded with emotion they lose the ability to think clearly and rationally.  During a conflict people tend to spend time in their head building evidence for why they are right, and the other person is wrong.  When you have a disagreement with someone, have you ever asked yourself, "what if I am wrong?"  What if we are both right?

I teach people how to look at situations from multiple perspectives. This is so important for communication and connection. I will provide you with strategies to move toward your relational goals, instead of staying on "pause."   It is time to start living and Gritty Therapy will provide you with the momentum you need to finally change the things in your life that are not working for you.
