My approach integrates a psychoanalytic perspective, diversity consciousness, and classical mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. I am anchored in a gay-centered Jungian orienation, which situates being gay and gayness as a central organizing force for those of us who are gay.
Through my clinical work at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Institute from 2003-2011 as well as psychoanalytic psychotherapy training I also became further sensitized to and trained in treating trauma from early childhood, societal dysfunction, illness, and overwhelming life events. Since 1996 I have worked closely with the HIV/AIDS infected and affected communities.
I also teach at Antioch University, Los Angeles, providing progressive psychotherapy training that emphasizes social justice and most notably LGBT affirmation. I have served most recently as the director of a speciaty area in Spiritual and Depth (Jungian focused) Psychology.
Please give me a call to discuss working together.
