Therapy can be a wonderful tool for understanding who we are and where we want to be heading.  I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, which addresses the underlying issues that result in symptoms and difficulties in our lives.  By understanding these underlying issues, we gain self-knowledge which aids us in making decisions that best serve us.  I have a particular interest in helping LGBTQ patients address an all-too-often history of stigma, homophobia and self-hatred.  That being said, I start with where my patient is at and what you come in to talk about.  The relationship developed between a therapist and patient can be a powerful tool for insight and growth, because what happens inside therapy can often mirror what goes on in the rest of one's life.  I bring a caring, empathic persona to my work and strive to create an atmosphere where all thoughts and feelings can be both explored and understood.
